in London– how to get from Heathrow airport to Wimbledon?
I’m travelling to London soon, and am landing at the Heathrow airport.
I need to get to the wimbledon-south area, as I’ve booked a hotel at the following address: 200 high street, colliers wood, London SW19 2BH
(please correct me if the area is not wimbledon)
I’m doing research online with London’s transport system, but am confused as to what method to take. Heathrow express? Connect? Which one is more affordable and reliable?
I’m not surprised you’re confused … I just tried using the journey planner on the Transport for London website and it’s giving me the most complicated selection of journeys
personally I would say from Heathrow the underground is by far the most convenient and cheapest way … the nearest tube station to your hotel is Colliers Wood … however the easiest way to get near to your hotel from Heathrow would be to take the Piccadilly line to Earls Court and interchange onto the Wimbledon branch of the District line to Wimbledon station … from Wimbledon there’s a selection of buses that will take you the short journey to Colliers Wood – 200, 57, 131, 219
you would be best to buy an Oyster card at Heathrow and put some credit on it … you’re going to need it to get around London anyway … if you’re only in London for a short stay get the visitor Oyster card http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/faresandtickets/visitortickets/10266.aspx
