London to Scotland?

Ok. I am going to be visiting London for the very first time in July…Me and my friend have decided on a day trip to Scotland. We really don’t know our way around. I’m not even sure what city in Scotland we want to go. We are more into the castles, culture, etc not so much super touristy stuff. Now my question is our address for our hotel in London is as follows:

Best Western Victoria Palace
60-64 Warwick Way
London, England
SW1 V1SA, Great Britain
and I’m not sure what train station to book our tickets at. I’m not sure what’s closest. We want to take the train to Scotland…but which city? Would love some Ideas! Thanks

catch the tube to Kings Cross Station then catch the 1000 am GNER Flying Scotsman Train to Edinburgh. Time to reach Edinburgh is roughly 4 hours on this train. You could also catch a Sleeper Train from Euston which departs at nearly Midnight and arrives 8 in the morning. Edinburgh is home to Edinburgh castle which is built on top of an extinct volcano. It is also the residence of the Royal Family when they are there. Edinburgh is the Scottish city with more of the history Glasgow tends to be more industrial. However that said the two cities are fairly close together and a short way out from Glasgow is Glencoe, the location of the Glencoe Massacre and also a very scenic area. Whichever city you choose prepare for rain. I swear down it is always raining in Scotland
